Indian Hills Community College
Situated in two campuses across southeast Iowa, Indian Hills Community College is a public community college accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. The main campus is in Ottumwa, and a second campus is adjacent to Ottumwa Regional Airport. The third campus is in Centerville. The college also has an online campus.
Indian Hills Community College offers a wide selection of associate degrees and certificates. Programs of study include Accounting, Agriculture and Entrepreneurship, Athletic Training, Aviation Maintenance Technology, Biology, Business, Clinical Laboratory Assistant, Computer Networks and Security, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Electronic Engineering Technology, Entrepreneurship, Industrial Maintenance, Machine Technology, Music, Pharmacy Technology, Real Estate, Theater, Welding Technology, and many more.
The Online Learning program at Indian Hills Community College is comprised of over 225 online courses in a wide range of subhects, as well as continuing education offerings and skill-building courses. Students who want to make use of the online learning option have to meet hardware, software, and Internet speed requirements. Students use a Web-based programs called MyHills for assignments, content, audio and video materials, and also to interact with faculty and peers.
For students who want to live on campus, Indian Hills Community College offers residence options on both campuses. Student dormitories are fully airconditioned and equipped with complete shower and laundry facilities, cable television, Internet access and telephone service. Dorm rooms vary from apartment units to double-occupancy residence halls.
Students at Indian Hills Community College have access to the Student Health and Wellness Center. with services provided including medical assessments and consultations, testing for strep, mono, or sexually transmitted diseases, contraceptive counseling and pregnancy tests, disease prevention education, fitness and stress management counseling, and more. Most services offered at the Student Health and Wellness Center are free of charge (a minimal fee may be charged for certain medical supplies, vaccines, or lab tests).
There's a lot of activities available to students while studying at Indian Hills Community College. Those who are artists by heart can take part in any of the performing and visual arts groups in the community. Also, there are performances offered every year and open for everyone to enjoy. Music is also a part of the community, as the college boasts of ensembles, bands, and musicians across musical styles. If you want to learn to play a musical instrument, private lessons in piano, brass, percussion, voice and other instruments are offered to students.
Getting a great meal is a breeze at Indian Hills Community College. The Hills Diner, the main dining facility at the main campus, is a cafeterian with a full range of entrees, soup and salad bar, sandwiches, fast food, and desserts every day. The Airport Cafe, at the North Campus serves breakfast and lunch from Monday to Thursday, while the Centerville Student Union or "The Bar" is the main dining facility at the Centerville campus. Other dining facilities are available on both campuses. Dining options are affordable, great tasting, and are designed to fit the tastes and preferences of different people.
